Capra Hircus

Capra Hircus

Pashmina is the traditional name used for the very finest Cashmere. This fine wool comes from the undercoat of the Himalayan mountain goat Capra Hircus which dwells at an altitude of 12'000 to 15'000 feet in the most remote regions of the Tibetan plateau.

A pashmina fibre is about 13-14 microns thick. To give you an idea, a human hair is about 75 microns thick.

Why own a pure pashmina ?

A pashmina is probably one of the most versatile garments you will ever own. It can be worn year round and it will last forever. A pashmina is the perfect winter garment - warm and light. It can be worn over a jacket as a wrap or around the neck as a muffler. In summer, wear it instead of a cardigan - especially when you're out at night over a summer dress.

Our elegant pure pashminas weigh only around 110 grams. You will carry them easily everywhere and wear them in every season.

Allow yourself the luxury of the finest, the softest and the warmest cashmere available anywhere.

How to take care of your pashmina ?

One of the wonderful things about your pashmina is that it can last for many many years if you take care of it properly. It will get softer and even more comfortable with each use.

In general, dry cleaning is the preferred method of washing for pashmina. However, you can hand wash it as well.

To hand wash, you must use cold water and add a little soft detergent such as baby shampoo. After washing, please do not wring dry. Just lay it flat to dry. Once dry, you can iron it but we recommend putting a piece of cloth between the iron and the pashmina.

Store your pashmina in the fine storage bag (that you received when you purchased it) and protect it from moths and other flying insects by adding a block of Cedar Wood.

Enjoy your pashmina.
